I recieved as a gift about three christmas' ago a pro star figure of John Hartson. It is a bobble head with a collector card that has never been opened and the package is immaculate. Does anyone know what that figure would be worth today. It was given to me my the former president of my CSC and according to him was given to him by Tommy Burns. I also recieved an offical Umbro scarf that i have never seen before either on the net or at games. I belong to the K-W CSC in Canada and it's former name was Tommy Burns CSC. The president that gave me these items has been friends with several ex players and hangs out with them at all the conventions held here.

Just a suggestion........ The majority of supporters at this match will be Celtic & Motherwell fans, hopefully fans of all other teams in Scotland & beyond will support this charitable game. Why dont we encourage fans of all to attend and have NO SEGREGATION. Can you imagine it...... fans from all over sitting together sharing the memory of one of Scotland finest sporting ambassadors. Wouldn't it be great when the Motherwell team score for all the Celtic fans to cheer and vice versa. Wouldn't it be great if Rangers & Hamilton Accies fans mixed in with all of us to support this worthy cause and cheered every goal.... as a footballing community. I'm certain this could work as I'm just as certain the idiots from all sides won't be there and this could be a family day out. I went to Ibrox the day Jim Baxter died and tied my Celtic scarf between 2 rangers scarfs, an elderly gentleman came over to me and said with a tear in his eye " I never thought I'd shake the hand of a celtic man" Think about it...... if you agree with me, please pass this around.... you never know........ best wishes to Phil's family, from Bill Waters Kippax West Yorks.(formerly Barrhead)

This game is a bit of a puzzle to me. It's down as a league game and The Scotsman refers to it as a 'Scottish League Match'. But there was no corresponding away fixture with Renton in season 1890-91.
I've not seen it referre to as a league match in other Celtic record books.
Can anyone shed any light?

My understanding is that St. Bernards were banned by the SFA for breaking the strictly amatuer code in Scotland by paying their players .
They reformed under another name - Edinburgh Saints - and played Renton in a friendly. The SFA were outraged at Renton for playing a "professional" club so they were also banned from all football! The league had no option but to give them the boot and consequently the result of league match against Celtic was expunged.
Renton made a legal challenge to the ban which was lifted in time for the next league season.

I agree.
The performances this season, with the exception of home European ties, have at most been totally uncommitted. Loosing two domestic cup ties, against in all respect very mediocre opposition is unacceptable and shouldn’t be tolerated by the Celtic board of directors. Gordon Strachan has been well supported in the boardroom in respect of his transfer dealings which with the odd exception have been very uninspiring. I know the manager cannot be responsible for how players play on the park, but he is responsible for the motivation and making sure he gets the best out of his “staff”. This just isn't happening.
As always the Celtic faithful will continue to provide the best support possible for “our” club so I can only hope and pray that Peter Lawwell and the other directors put this insulting, patronising and at times down right ignorant little man out of his misery and start to get the heart back into a wonderful football club. I wonder why Mr Strachan was working for Sky at the Arsenal, Liverpool match on Wednesday (2nd). Is he trying to get back in touch with people in the game in order to find himself a job ? I hear Gretna may be looking for a manager of his pedigree……………I digress

"His is my grandfather on my mothers side. Does anyone know how do get a photo of him ina Celtic top." Hi Curry57, I've uploaded a couple of photos for you of Johnny. One is on the Johnny Campbell page and here's the link. http://www.kerrydalestreet.com/page/Johnny+CampbellThis is taken from the photo of the 1901 team that won the Exhibition Trophy. I've loaded up this photo here. http://www.kerrydalestreet.com/page/1901+picsJohnny is third from the right in the back row. The quality is not the greatest but it's better than nothing. Obviously the Celts wore stripes back then but it's definitely him in a Celtic top! And also in the presence of Celtic greats like Willie Maley and Jimmy Quinn I also have a photo of him him in the 1897 team. Once again the quality isn't the greatest but I would be happy to upload it it if you are interested. Do you have any stories about Johnny to share with us? Hail, hail, Hullbhoy.

Under the matches pages, should I make a page for only matches against the huns? I know on the one hand that would pander to the "old firm" tag and why should they have a seperate page - on the other hand it'd be handy to have all the stats grouped together, the list of games including most important huns games (whitewash, 10-men won the league, etc etc) and also could be space for stats about how many times players' have scored against them, red cards/penalties, etc etc. Thoughts?

The team has been without a spark since Gordon Strachan took over. Can no one see the damage this man has done and is still doing to the club. I used to spend in excess of £10k, including my tickets per year and now I only give Celtic F.C. the basic amount for season tickets which incidentally I do not use myself, they are given out to my business acquaintances as I find it too embarrassing to watch the team now. I am quite sure that if the books were audited they would find that there is more damage being done with "Wee Gord" in the driving seat. GIVE THE JOB TO TOMMY BURNS. The players do not seem to have respect for "Wee Gord" and I cetrtainly cannot watch a pub team trying to perform.

Hey! I'm new on here, slightly less new on the main discussion forum :) Been reading the wiki for ages and love it, but it never occured to me to sign up and help edit it. Apologies if I make any mistakes. Also, the first page I made, Morten Wieghorst, I put his first name before the surname, which seems to be the opposite from all the other pages. Do you know how to go about reversing that? When I click edit it doesn't see to give me the option of just editing the name of the page... cheers!

Hi I'm not a Celtic fan but came across this site by accident. Your article on Dundee United states they changed their name because of links with the Catholic Church. This is not the case and should be corrected. Dundee Hibs changed their name to attract a wider support NOT to lose the few supporters they already had!!!. There was never a link with the Church, only with the Irish community who never really supported the club in great numbers mainly because they weren't very good. At that time there was virtual civil war going on in Ireland as well and the new owners decide a break from the Irish ties might lead to a wider support. Hope you can correct your otherwise well written article.

Hey, I was wondering if there are summaries of each season, haven't been able to find them but might be blind. It's a wee bit confusing that matches are organised by year, and pics by season. Perhaps under each year, we could include links to the two seasons it covers. Here we could have a summary of the season - honours, important matches, transfers, etc etc? Does that already exist and if not would it fit into the structure of the wiki d'you reckon? Cheers :)

I am still in the process of changning the match pages from years to seasons, so they match with the pictures threads
I got for the 2000''s to the 80's IIRC. I'll try to get the rest done soon (requires moving/deleting/renaming etc)
When it's done, then along with the matches, there could be a section at the top for season stats/honours etc

I noticed that the Andy Payton profile talks about him being a Yorkshireman.
Andy was born a Lancastrian in his beloved Burnley but he developed as a young player over the pennines at Hull City when they took him on as a 16 year old.
I always thought he was a really pacy player for Celtic but didn't settle due to his domestic circumstances. 15 goals in 20 starts for the Celts. Not a bad return really.
