Justin Whittle was signed along with Gary Holt after being spotted by Pat Crerand in an Army tourney in Monchengladbach and recommended by him toLou Macari. He played in the last Reserve squad game of the season in 93/94 andwent to the trips to Old Trafford and Canada on trial w the club. Both players were then given a 1 year contract by Macari on 1/6/94.
Originally from Derby; Justin had trials with Borussia Monchengladbach whilst in Germany, then with Sheffield Utd and Cambridge. He played for the British Army of the Rhine team and with a local German lower league side. Unlike Gary Holt he had to negotiate his way out of the Army after getting a contract - unlike Holt he couldn't buy his way out. This subsequently caused many of the problems the following season and made it impossible for them to play for the club. It was found that neither of their registrations with the SFA were complete and by the time the paperwork was sorted neither had played for months.
Tommy Burns released both of them to join Lou Macari at Stoke City.
Subsequently Justin joined Hull City in 1998 and had 6 full season there as a respected defender captaining the team. He left when out of contract and with a great deal of fan displeasure to join Grimsby Town in 2004 where he again captained the side.
Since the summer of 2008 Justin has played non-league football with Harrogate Town
