Coatbridge-born John Weir was a midfield battler who came from the Celtic Boys Club set up.
He signed senior terms for the Hoops in 1978 and made his debut in a 1-1 League Cup draw at Dundee United in November 1980.
In total he made 14 competiive appearances for the Hoops but by season 81-82 he couldn’t force his way into regular contention for a first team spot. He was released by the club in May 1982.
