The Hampden Roar
The famous Hampden Roar is one of the most famous sounds in Scottish football folklore and it was legendary Celt Jimmy McGrory who originally sparked the original explosion of noise from the terraces of the old stadium.
Jimmy was playing for Scotland against old rivals England in an all too rare appearance for the national team. With the match tied at 1-1 McGrory scored a superb winner and the phenomenal noise which greeted his wonderful strike became known as the 'Hampden Roar'.
