O'Rourke, Peter

Half-back Peter O’Rourke was brought to Celtic in February 1895 primarily as cover for the great James Kelly..

A Scottish Junior international Newmilns-born O’Rourke signed for the Bhoys from Mossend Celtic after earlier having trials with Hibs. His debut came on February 23rd in a 4-4 league draw against Third Lanark at Celtic Park.

Peter played nine times for Celtic before moving on to Burnley in May 1897. He later went on to be manager of Bradford City who he guided to FA Cup success in 1911.
