Nelson, James

Former Arsenal man David Nelson made a solitary appearance for Celtic as a guest in the wartime Regional League.

The Douglas Water-born outside-left made his solitary appearance in the Hoops in a 2-1 defeat at Clyde on January 3rd 1942. James Nelson signed on for the Hoops in August 1941 and made his debut at outside-left in a Regional League match at Parkhead in which Celtic defeated Queen’s Park 2-0 on August 30th.

He scored 3 goals in 14 games but was to lose his starting place during the 1942-43 season. The younger brother of David Nelson, James was released by Celtic in February 1943.
