John McCann first appeared for Celtic as a loan signing from Broxburn Shamrock for the league game at Renton on March 23rd 1893.

The Bhoys won 2-0 and McCann did enough on that day at half-back to be signed again by the club 18 months later when he was used as cover for Jimmy Kelly who was on international duty with Scotland. McCann played two games for Celtic in that second spell at Parkhead and by the end of the year had gone on to play for Hibernian and Preston NE before returning to Broxburn!
