A promising midfielder John Paul McBide was a Scotland Under 21 international who had impressed at youth and reserve level.
The teenager made his first team debut as a substitue on August 15th 1996 in a league clash with Raith at Parkhead which the Celts won 4-1. Over the next couple of seasons a few flleting appearances were made by McBride but on the whole he failed to force himself into the first team picture and he left in the summer of 1999 for St Johnstone.
