Outside-right John McArdle signed for Celtic in June 1926 from St Anthony’s.

The Gorbals-born player made his only competitive Bhoys appearance when he was in the side which defeated Dunfermline 2-1 at Parkhead on April 2nd 1927. McArdle couldn’t however force himself into the first team picture and was released by the club in the summer of 1927 when he returned to the junior ranks.
