Henrik Larsson
Signed from Feyenoord in July 1997 for a mere £650,000, Swedish International Henrik 'King of Kings' Larsson wrote himself into the Celtic history books by scoring 242 goals in only 312 matches for the club. Larsson's greatest achievements at Celtic Park were stopping arch-rivals Rangers from winning a record-breaking 10 titles in a row in his debut season at Parkhead, scoring 53 goals in one season during 2000/01 in which Celtic won the treble, and scoring a double against FC Porto in the UEFA Cup Final in 2003, although unfortunately his efforts weren;t enough to secure a triumph for The Bhoys on that occasion.
Henrik departed Celtic Park after a 'magnificent 7' years in the summer of 2004 to join FC Barcelona, there he helped the Catalan club to two succesive La Liga titles and most memorably made a telling impact in the Champions League final in 2006 when, after appearing as a subsititute, set up both of Barca's winning goals as they overturned a 1-0 deficit to beat Arsenal 2-1 and secure only the second European Cup success in the club's history. He also lead the Swedish attack in the 2006 World Cup in Germany where Henrik's late goal against England ensured that he was to join the history books once again as being one of only three players to have scored in three successive World Cup tournaments, following his strikers at USA '94 and Japan/South Korea 2002.
Henrik has now returned to his homeland this season, having retired from International football, where he is currently playing for Swedish side Helsingborgs IF.
