Robert ‘Roy’ Kay was a surprise signing when he joined Jock Stein’s Celtic in July 1977.
Full-back Kay moved to Parkhead from recently relegated Hearts and was viewed by Stein as providing quality cover for Danny McGrain and Andy Lynch. He made his debut in a 2-1 league defeat at Ayr United on August 20th 1977 and went on to make a total of 10 appearances before being released in April 1978.
