Darren Jackson (25/07/1966) born in Edinburgh.
Position: Forward
Playing Career
Jackson is probably best remembered for his exploits with Hibernian, where he scored 50 goals in 170 appearances for the club. This earned him a £1.25m move to Celtic as one of Wim Jansen's first signings for the club. In his two years at Celtic, Jackson scored just 3 league goals in 29 appearances. During his stay at Celtic, Jackson was diagnosed with hydrocephalus, or water on the brain. During his second season at Celtic, he moved to Coventry on loan - where he played for future Celtic manager Gordon Strachan.
Although Strachan announced that Jackson was moving toChina at the end of his stay at Coventry, the striker actually crossed the Edinburgh divide by signing for Hearts. After making over 50 appearances for the club, Jackson moved to Livingston (firstly on loan, before the transfer was made permanent) and ended up at Clydebank, where he finished his career.
Jackson also enjoyed a successful international career, scoring 4 goals in 26 internationals and playingat both the European Championships in 1996, in England, and the 1998 World Cup, in France.
