Former Arsenal and Blackburn man Joe Haverty was brought to Parkhead on September 27th 1964 on a month long trial from Millwall.
The speedy little Dubliner had been a real crowd pleaser at Highbury and his nippy and direct play certainly met with the approval of the Celtic support during his only outing in the Hoops. That came on October 17th when Joe played outside-left as Celtic defeated St Mirren 4-1 in a league match at Parkhead.Parkhead.
However, despite that impressive performance Joe surprisingsly returned to Millwall at the end of the month. During his short stay at Parkhead Joe was capped by Ireland in an international clash with Poland.
