An accomplished junior player John Ferguson had the briefest of Celtic careers, making just a solitary competitive appearance for the Bhoys.

The Jordanhill Juniors youngster was fielded as a trialist in the league clash with Leith Athletic in March 1895 which Celtic won 6-5 - with centre forward Ferguson - who had taken the place of the injured Johnny Madden - grabbing a goal.

Ferguson also scored for the Bhoys in a friendly against St Mirren but despite his efforts he was not offered a contract and he eventually joiined Hibernian.
