Jim Brogan signed for Celtic in 1962 from junior side St Roch's and was part of the Celtic team which lost the 1970 European Cup final to Feyenord..

An often unsung hero of Stein's dominant Celtic of the late 60s and early 70s Brogan was a fleet footed defender who spent much of his early years at Parkhead career as understudy to John Clark.

Often deployed as a sweeper Brogan could also play elsewhere in the defence and turned out for the Hoops at left-back, centre-half and even in the centre of midfield. At his best he was sharp in the tackle and an excellent reader of the game. He eventually left the club for Coventry City in 1975 and it says a lot for Brogan's ability that in a period when Celtic were unquestionably among the very best club sises in the world he made an impressive 332 starts and scored 9 goals.
