The Scotsman - Wednesday, 31st May 1950, page 9
Celtic Player ordered off in Rome
What amounted almost to a pitched battle was fought here to-day between Lazio a Rome football team, and Glasgow Celtic. Over 40 free-kicks were awarded, and [John ] McPhail the Celtic centre- forward, and Tramondini, the Italian centre- half, were sent off the field. The result was a goalless draw. At one point the game was held up for more than five minutes while people invaded the ground. Club officials and the referee tried to restore order.
