1921-01-01 Rangers 2-0 Celtic
The Scotsman - Monday, 3rd January 1921, page 3
A fast, interesting, and often exciting match was the outcome of the meeting of the Rangers and Celtic at Ibrox Park. On the run of the play the one side was as good as the other, but the Celtic forwards were the more dangerous, and the two goals scored by Cassidy really typified the difference between the teams. The first goal was registered forty minutes after the start, and the second one midway through the second half. While having the better of the first period, the Celtic had to defend for a big portion of the second half, and it was only some wonderful saving by Shaw that prevented the Rangers from scoring. The Celtic's forwards were the better balanced line, for Henderson, the Rangers' centre, could make nothing of Cringan, and Archibald hjas seldom played so poorly. Muirhead did well for the Rangers as stop-gap left half, and M'Candless was not far from being the best back on the field M'Nair was as safe as usual until near the end, when he tapered off. There were fully 70,000 spectators
