1911-12: The laws of the game were changed so that goalkeepers could only handle the ball in their own penalty area.

The change was prompted after a match in 1910,when both the Third Lanark and Motherwell goalkeepers took advantage of being able to handle the ball anywhere on the pitch to BOTH score a goal.

This was the only time in first class football that both goalkeepers had scored in the same match.
