1893-12-16 Celtic 7-0 Albion Rovers

The Scotsman - Monday, 18th December 1893, page 5

Celtic v Albion Rovers – This match was played at Parkhead before a poor attendance. In the first half play was very brisk, and the Rover’s goal was assailed continuously with occasional rushes by the Rovers’ forwards. Doyle and Reynolds were safe; Rovers’ defence brilliant and weak in turns. Half-time :- Celtic two goals; Rovers, nil. The second portion was greatly in the Celts’ favour, the forwards combining splendidly. Mainly through the efforts of M’Mahon, Divers, Mally (sic), and Blessington, the Celtic scored other five goals, three in the opening ten minutes. Result: Celtic, seven goals; Rovers, nil.
