The Scotsman - Monday, 30th October 1893, page 5
GLASGOW THISTLE v CELTIC – Glasgow Cup tie played at Braehead. The teams were at full strength and play at the outset was fast, but a bit rough. It was half an hour before the Celtic found an opening, but they followed this up rapidly with two other goals. M’Mahon and Campbell being responsible. Half-time :- Celtid, three goals; Glasgow Thistle, nil. The second half was almost a one-team game, the Thistle hardly ever being dangerous. The Celtic were able to put on some fine close pasing work, in which the famous left-wingers, Campbell and M’Mahon, did the lion’s share, piling on the goals one after another. The Thistle were handicapped owing to an accident to Haig. Result :- Celtic, seven goals, Thistle, nil.
