CELTIC v ABERCORN. -Played on the Celtic Park. The Celts kicked off, and M’MahonMcMahon and Campbell were the first to show good play. After five minutes had gone M'MahonMcMahon sent in a hot one, which rebounded off Cuthbertson, and winded him. Although the Celts had a strong breeze to contend against, their style was very pretty - too pretty to be effective. In fact - and Abercorn, after defending splendidly, at length changed the venue of the play, and almost scored. The Celts again beat them off, and the Abercorn defence was again put to the test. The Celts feeble attempts to score when near goal were greeted with shouts of laughter. The whistle sounded with the game standing:- Celtic, one goal; Abercorn, nil. On resuming Abercorn equalised almost immediately. M’MahonMcMahon soon afterwards put the Celtic one up. With ten minutes to go Campbell scored for the Celts cleverly, and the game ended in favour of the Celts by three goals to one.
