Celtic v Renton – On Celtic Park. Renton kicked off with a breeze in their teeth, and almost scored in the first minute. The wind told, however, and Celtic soon had them beyond midfield, and kept them there. During almost the whole of this half the Celts’ shooting was poor, but they succeeded in putting two goals on, after forty minutes had gone. Half-time :- Celtic, two goals, Renton, nil. On resuming the Celtic scored a third goal after three minutes’ play, and, continuing to show better form than in the previous half, hemmed the Renton severely. Renton strove hard to break away, but the defence of Reynolds and Doyle was too good for them. Time after time the Celts should have scored again, but hard luck attended their best efforts, and the game finally ended: - Celtic, three goals; Renton, nil.
