1891-04-25: Celtic 1-1 Third lanark, League

Celtic Games 1891 - Third Lanark

The Scotsman - Monday, 27th April 1891, page 5

Celtic v Third Lanark – On the Celtic Park. The Third kicked of, and in the first ten minutes had rather the best of the play. The Celts improved and after sixteen minutes scored the first goal. Andrew Thomson close on half-time had to leave the field, but all the same the Third’s play improved, and before the whistle blew they equalised through Wills, amidst tremendous cheering. Half-time :- Celtic, one goal; Third, one goal. On resumption of play the Third again took up the running strongly, and the Celts had a lively time. Soon the Celts bore them back, and some grand wing play was now shown by M’Mahon and Campbell, but without effect. Both teams strove hard to get the lead, but they seemed on a level regarding merit, and a most determined and equal game ended in a draw of one goal each.
