Celtic Games 1890 - Clyde
Celtic v Clyde – Played at Parkhead. There was a big attendance. The game was a lively one, and the play open, fast and exciting. Groves was absent from the home team. The Celts were not allowed to monopolise the play. Cullen, of the Clyde was hurt, and had to retire. The Celts played up hard, and Downes twice sent the ball through. Half-time reault :- Celts, two goals; Clyde, nil. On passing over the Clyde were still handicapped by Cullen’s absence. The game was much faster than in the first portion. Madden and Dowds were showing fine forward play. The former scored a third goal with a brilliant shot. The Celts now had the game in hand, and they showed some most effective and fancy dribbling.
